Marital Law
What is Marital Law:
Family Law encompasses a range of issues involving the rights of parties in not only marriages but also parenting, paternity, child custody, and the definition of property rights within that framework. Family law disputes are more critical and complex than many individuals understand. The nature of a family law dispute goes right to the core values upon which this country was built. As such, family law disputes become emotional and adversarial very quickly. The issues are important not just from an economic perspective, but from a physiological perspective as many impact the future of children. Good advice, passionate representation and compassion are important attributes of the representation that an individual needs in a family law dispute. It is more than just regurgitating the law. It is the understanding of the impact of the dispute upon the stability of your family.
Family law attorneys are there to assist the members of the family in restructuring their relationship. Sometimes this involves planning for marriage. Sometimes this involves planning for divorce. Sometimes this involves parenting. There are a variety of ways to address these approaches.
Mediation is a methodology used to resolve most disputes regardless of whether it is done pre-suit or after the suit is filed. Mediation involves the use of a trained neutral third party to assist counsel and the parties in developing a resolution of the dispute that both sides believe is reasonable and fair. Woodward, Pires & Lombardo, P.A. has successfully participated in literally thousands of mediations and achieved goals that we believe were reasonable and fair for both parties, the hallmark of fair resolution of a dispute.
