The five North Fire Control and Rescue District commissioners are backing their passion for protecting the community with their paychecks.
The district is offering free COVID-19 antibody testing to the public, according to a Facebook post from the district, partially with the money donated by the commissioners: $500 each.
The district hopes to find eligible candidates with COVID-19 antibodies who can donate plasma and ask people to register.
The district’s fire commissioners are donating their salaries for October to help sponsor the event. The Southwest Florida Community Foundation, Woodward Pires & Lombardo, The North Collier Professional Firefighters and Case Benefits Consultants have also donated to ensure the event will be free to the public.
Each of the five members of the fire commission agreed to help pay for the event, said Chris Lombardo, chairman of the fire commission.
